BC TechDays 2026: what do AI and agents mean for the future of Business Central?

Authors: Chris Aben (Developer), Edse van Eijk (Developer), and Patrick Sieswerda (Senior Developer)

On June 10th and 11th, our colleagues Chris Aben, Edse van Eijk, and Patrick Sieswerda attended BC TechDays 2026 in Antwerp. During this international event, we, along with other Microsoft specialists, developers, and Business Central experts, gathered to exchange knowledge and practical experiences about the latest developments within the platform.

After two days full of technical sessions, practical examples, and conversations with the international Business Central community, one development clearly stood out: AI is increasingly becoming an integral part of Business Central.

AI is no longer a standalone innovation

During almost every session, AI, Copilot, and agents came up again. Topics like MCP tooling, agentic development, GitHub Copilot, Logic Apps, semantic search, and modern API integrations show the direction Microsoft is moving. Whereas AI was mostly seen as an interesting add-on a few years ago, it is now developing into a standard part of the Business Central platform and the way solutions are developed. For developers, this means that knowledge of AL remains as important as ever. At the same time, skills in AI, integrations, and agents are becoming increasingly relevant.

The role of the Business Central developer is changing.

One of the most interesting insights from BC TechDays was that developers no longer need to build everything themselves. AI agents can increasingly support daily tasks and complex processes. Business Central is thus further evolving into a platform where automation, extensibility, and intelligent support converge.

In addition to the AI-focused sessions, there were also valuable presentations on report development, cloud migrations, testing, concurrency, and the further development of the AL platform, among other topics. Here too, the common thread was clear: Microsoft is investing heavily in a future-proof Business Central platform.

From new insights to practical applications

An event like BC TechDays isn't just about new technology, but especially about how these developments can be applied in practice.

At Dynamics4Business, we also see these developments reflected in our projects involving Business Central, AI, and Copilot. We help organizations apply new technology practically and manageably, with solutions that align with daily business operations and concrete challenges. The knowledge and insights gained during BC TechDays are therefore immediately incorporated into our customer engagements and projects.

Sharing knowledge and looking ahead

In addition to all the technical sessions, BC TechDays also offered ample opportunity to exchange experiences with peers from home and abroad. It is precisely this combination of innovation, practical experience, and knowledge sharing that makes the event valuable every year. After two days of BC TechDays, one thing is clear: the development of Business Central is progressing rapidly, and AI is playing an increasingly significant role in it. We look back on two inspiring days and look forward to applying this knowledge in practice.
